Digital Learning Resources

Come back to this page regularly -- additional resources are being created. Last updated 3/23/2020.

The Georgia Department of Education is advising school districts to develop a plan to continue student learning during school closures, if possible -- using resources such as study packets, cable access, virtual school/online classes, etc. The below resources from GaDOE's Office of Teaching and Learning are available to support schools' efforts.

Strategy
Educational leaders should plan for flexibility and equity for all students in their digital learning day strategy. Virtual learning environments, if used, are unique and different from the traditional classroom.

Equity

Educational leaders must consider whether online distance learning solutions affect students equitably; they must adhere to IDEA/IEP requirements and should consider how students will connect to digital tools and access learning. GaDOE's Office of Special Education Services and Supports is developing guidance to help districts and schools implement online/distance learning equitably.

Professional Development

Helping teachers understand how they can leverage learning technologies to deliver effective instruction is the most important aspect of any digital or distance learning plan. Resources available include Georgia Virtual Learning's "Just-in-Time for Teachers: Digital Learning Days" micro-course and the "Effective Online Teaching" course for all teachers.
