Description of Duties:

Under the direction of the Director and in collaboration with School & District Effectiveness and other Georgia Department of Education team members, perform professional level finance, accounting, and fiscal control functions. Performs and/or oversees financial planning, documentation, analysis, reporting and system development.  Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

•      Design and/or implementation of financial/accounting/budget related systems and reports

•      Evaluation of state and federal School Improvement funding allotments

•      Monitor and evaluate School Improvement financial performance

•      Provide review and analysis of School Improvement budgets

•      Act as a resource for stakeholder questions regarding School Improvement  funding

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of fiscal analysis experience OR Associate's degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of fiscal analysis experience OR Two years of experience required at the lower level Budget Analyst 2 (FIP011) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

·         Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, finance, or a related field with experience in state government

·         Must have two years of professional experience in a related area

·         Must have strong interpersonal communication skills, problem solving/decision making skills, and skill in using standard computer software applications 

·         Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

·         Must be self-directed and self-motivated with a strong work ethic

·         Experience working within an organization focused on academic achievement

·         Experience working with schools

·         Familiarity with Georgia’s education funding formula 

Salary/Benefits: Pay grade L – Annual salary range is $40,982.94 (minimum) to $71,720.15 (maximum).  Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
