 Parent Services Unit


The purpose of the Parent Services Unit (PSU) is to ensure that all parents in Georgia are aware of and have full access to services that fall under Title 1, and that all Title 1 children in Georgia receive the assistance needed to achieve academic success in school.

The Parent Services Unit is comprised of three subdivisions: Supplemental Education Services (SES), Parental Involvement, and Preschool and Family Literacy.

  • The responsibility of the SES staff is to secure the SES providers, monitor their services and evaluate their results. Staff also provides technical assistance to the local educational agencies (LEAs) and Providers.
  • Parent Involvement provides technical assistance for LEAs. In addition, training is provided for parents to ensure that they are empowered to exercise their rights and options under No Child Left Behind.
  • Preschool and Family Literacy provides technical assistance for LEAs. In addition, training is provided for parents to ensure that their children have the skills needed before entering kindergarten.
