Below are links to rubrics used on the Georgia Milestones English
Language Arts assessments for each grade level and course. These include
the four-point holistic rubric used to evaluate narrative writing and the
seven-point, two-trait rubric used to evaluate ideas and conventions in
informational/explanatory and opinion/argumentative essay writing. Copies of
these rubrics are provided here to help acquaint
Georgia students and educators with the traits and criteria used to define the
quality of student essay and narrative writing on Georgia Milestones.
These rubrics are a supplemental resource and may
be used in the classroom to complement existing writing instruction throughout
the school year. They are not intended to replace other instructional
resources developed by the local school district or the Curriculum and
Instruction Division of the Georgia Department of Education. While these
rubrics are descriptive of the varying levels of writing quality as expressed
by a student’s response to a prompt, they are most effective when used in
context with sample responses to show how each trait and criteria is defined at
each score point. These sample responses can be found in the Item and Scoring
Guide Samplers for EOG
and EOC.
Additional sample prompts and responses can be found in the EOG
Assessment Guides, the EOC
Assessment Guides, the EOG
Study Guides, and the EOC
Study Guides.
