LEA Access to Integrated GaDOE Systems
Since 2009, at the request of Georgia’s LEAs, Technology Services has worked to integrate key functions of all GaDOE departments into one comprehensive statewide solution that can be accessed through the LEA’s existing student information system. This has been accomplished by enhancing Georgia’s Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) – both by creating new applications to add to the SLDS tunnel, and by adding new features and functionality to existing SLDS applications. Various Governance Boards and Advisory Groups (composed of LEA employees) work with Technology Services to ensure that the applications within the SLDS tunnel provide an easily accessible, complete system of information for all stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, principals, and other LEA staff.
Georgia's SLDS has over 25 different applications within the one platform. These appications range from a state IEP application, EL Screener, an RTI- tier 3 application, Gifted Eligibility, District and School Improvement plans, Perkins application, etc. In addition, it currently displays some 30,000+ digital instructional resources via Georgia's Learning Object Repository.
To assist Georgia's Districts and schools, the SLDS Training Team is equipped to provide various training opportunities. These opportunities range from Professional Learning Courses, recorded training sessions, live online training, Professional Development days, and even teacher planning periods.
